Ah yes my love, trust me,; it will be done by the first snow...well maybe the one after the first snow?????
So Andy and Bob are back playin' in the dirt with Mark checking progress. These guys agreat! Couldn't do it without them! Yes the leaves have turned but no snow yet!!YET..........
It is pretty, that's for sure! The ground froze over a bit last night so time's runnin' out fast! Hard to believe we started at the crack of Spring and pushed non-stop 'til now.

Been Real Busy so here we go!!

Actually the outside is nearly finished but i haven't got pix yet. Real soon i hope. This shows the entry to the studio to the left of the two planks against the building.
An inside shot of the control room. The amp room is to the right flanked by the two wooden columns and the space to the right of that is going to be a stairway coming down into the studio airlock from the office in the main house.
This is a view looking out the main entry room door of the studio from the control room end of the studio. My wifey
's warehouse and office is above the floor trusses 14' above. She's been my rock through this grueling project! MOAH!!!

Tractors and chases and sand, oh my!

Sand is in covering the chases. The corner control room is raised a bit to cover the 4" chases from the console wings to the fx rack behind.
That's Josh who has assured me that he has learned what he doesn't want to do the rest of his life! bob and Andy continue to amaze with their skill and artful approach with attention to detail. Beautiful job done by all!! Many thanks!!
If this stage of the project doesn't drive ya crasy, nothing will! Note the black "Fernco" connectors at isolated slab edges between rooms. I ground them down to inner tube thickness to cut flanking between slabs. Hope it works..I' let ya know.

Lots of pieces to put together. The white stacks are the wall forms that stay in place after pouring in concrete. The mixer is for small pours. A cement truck will be next for the slabs. then the walss in 3 separate pours to get of 24' high total (14 for the studio and the rest for Tanya's space above).
The saw horses are in front of the amp and fridge room (an addition that only took 12 hours of pick ax and shoveling!) thought I'd use the space under the house. The stairwell from the office is to the right of the amp room. Lots of fussy work trying to maximize space and tie into the existing structure!
Messy work in the crawl space but worth it in the end...I hope!
I moved the bathroom outside of the existing office space at the suggestion of some studio forum helpers to keep spaces uncramped. Thanks guys for all your ongoing suport and ideas!

GOT THE 14' AND FOOTER POURED! Time to take a breath...

With a little help from "Maga" and Jaxon (our first grandchild) we got the 3/4" stone in. Truely a family ordeal!!

Many steps on the way. Had to get over that ledge.

That's Andy Quint of Robert O. Quint & Son Excavation Contractor our top notch operator! He's smooth and clean! I wouldn't trust just anyone that close to the house foundation but I don't worry a bit with him at the controls. Thanks Andy!
That's Bobby Quint outside looking on. He's the top dog! That's Mark in the hole. He's the main contractor making sure we get the full 14' from slab to studio ceiling. Without him none of this dream could be possible!
That's Mark my main man. That's the footer hanging in the air!! Mark says, "don't worry about it..." "trust me..." How can you not trust a man who wears white sneakers??? You got my vote Mark, Rock On baby! PS, my white sneakers fit perfect, thanks!!

That's Steve our gracious and talented sawyer. He brought the mill to us... Who said the mountain doesn't come to Mohamed? He got every last bit from our little "Pecker Poles". Over 1500 board feet! THANK YOU STEVE! Oh yes; and above Steve is a pic of yours truely, alias Paul Bunyan. Look out for the man with the pulp hook!!!

That's wifey hiding behind the tree, working hard to sort and stack the boards as they come off the mill. She will even run the mixing board for me at gigs from time to time (as long as I don't give her too much of "The Look" from stage!). Ya can't beat that!! Love ya partner!!

Snow Leaving???

This is the approach from the main road which is about 400' from this point . To the right hand lower corner of this picture is where the new road through the woods is cleared and waiting to be built, (once the !@#$%^&* snow leaves!)

After an hour of shoveling I found my white pine logs. Next is to get them to the mill down the road to cut them into slats.
Behind the logs is the road that goes around back of the house to the side where the studio will be built.
There's the garage and house approach. The studio driveway will branche off this to the left where the shovel and logs are.

A New Journey Unfolds

My name is John Pasquarelli and I have been playing music for too long now and it's time to start a new journey.

Well my 1st "final plan" is ready yet the snow is still deep (see pix). My wife and I have recently created a non-profit to provide space/experience for young aspiring artists/musicians/video buffs. Our studio in the woods will hopefully provide an alternative to the drugs, early pregnancy, and rampant abuse in our rural area. Our local high school is trying to fund a performing arts center as an adjunct to the school and we hope to partner with them as well. It will likely take another 9-10 years before I can finish this project and give up my day job. To pay the bills, I hope to serve professionals as well.

This year's project will be to put up the shell. Of course that has meant a steep learning curve to plan mostly to completion before starting. Here is my plan below, open to all who have suggestions. I'm too close to it at this point and am probably missing some obvious and not so obvious things. Please ask questions and provide comments. You can email me at vibrations@pioneerwireless.net. First Final Draft floor plan.

The winder staircase begins in the office/chill room that is part of the existing house. the blue interior walls are within the new addition structure. The main entrance is 8'x14' all the way to the right of the picture.

-The slabs will all be isolated-6 total. I'm thinking that the tracking room walls will be John Sayer's "inside out design" (slot resonators) for the most part.
-The control room will be for tracking and mixing (plans for 5.1 hopefully).
-AC lines will come in from above
-LV in pvc's under the slabs with flex rubber connectors on pvc between slabs to cut flanking
-With any luck, the ceiling heights to work with will be 14' (depends upon surface grade and ledge).
-Floors will have radiant heat with separate zones for each slab.
-Styro blocks filled with concrete will be the exterior walls with stucco for a finish.
-Story above studio will be wife's office, studio space for other arts and her import goods web store warehouse (not much noise going on up there and the ceilings of the recording studio will be isolated completely as well)

Office/Chill Space in Existing Structure

This view shows the existing house which contains the office/chill room. The new construction starts on this end wall and continues to the right 40' plus another 8' for the main entry. There is a crawl space below the vinyl siding that only goes down about 42" from the office floor level. The ground slope down to the right is partially fill and rock ledge below. From the house edge ground level I hope to get down about 5' to meet the grade level at the parking lot to the right edge of the picture.
